Insights into Glove Production in Siegen and Exchange on Sustainability in Everyday Clinical Practice<\/strong><\/p>\n Bonn\/Siegen, 30 January 2026.<\/em><\/p>\n On Friday, 23 January 2026, BISON Polymers welcomed nine students from the University of Bonn for a full-day visit to its production site in Siegen. During a tour of the company and its production facilities, the future physicians gained insights into BISON\u2019s in-house development, quality assurance and manufacturing processes. A subsequent discussion provided an opportunity to explore topics related to sustainability and the use of disposable gloves in everyday clinical practice. <\/p>\n The group visited BISON as one of two excursion destinations as part of the elective course \u201cGreen Healthcare\u201d. BISON Polymers is the only company producing disposable gloves in Germany. In doing so, BISON contributes to a resilient supply of disposable gloves for medical facilities, regardless of whether geopolitical events are disrupting global supply chains. During the factory tour, the students were impressed not only by the energy-efficient production process using machinery developed in-house, but also by the short transport routes and the resulting potential to reduce CO\u2082 emissions. <\/p>\n In discussions with the students, BISON Co-CEO Sascha Schellenberg, CTO Konrad Henkel and Marketing Director Joalene Schmitt addressed various aspects of sustainability, quality and supply security. The conversation also covered current challenges encountered in everyday clinical practice. Disposable gloves, for example, can sometimes tear quickly or fall to the floor when being pulled from their boxes, making them unusable. \u201cIn everyday clinical practice, there are certain things that simply have to work reliably when it matters most. Disposable gloves are definitely one of them,\u201d says Joalene Schmitt. <\/p>\n \u201cInsights like these are particularly valuable for our development work because they help us better understand the challenges faced by nursing and hospital staff in their daily work,\u201d adds Sascha Schellenberg. \u201cThe exchange with BISON was incredibly valuable for our group as well and provided an exciting insight into the sustainable transformation of the healthcare sector,\u201d says Dr Pascal Siegert, a physician in postgraduate training at University Hospital Bonn, who led the group. <\/p>\n BISON will incorporate the feedback gathered during the exchange into its ongoing corporate and product development. CTO Konrad Henkel emphasises: \u201cSustainability requires innovation and a willingness to rethink processes from the ground up. There is a great deal of potential in Germany, and particularly here in Siegen, but there is also a great deal of work to be done. We are delighted that the students were immediately so impressed by the gloves they tested during their visit.
